Devils pay for slow start in cup
Somerset Rebels...52 Plymouth Devils...44
SPEEDWAY: Plymouth Devils will be on a revenge mission tonight when they open their Premier League campaign at home to the Somerset Rebels (7.30pm).
The Rebels completed a League Cup double over Mike Bowden's side last night at the Oak Tree Arena in a match that had been rained off twice before.
The Devils, though, will be hoping it is third time lucky this evening when the serious business of league speedway starts after also losing 51-39 to the Rebels in the cup at St Boniface earlier in the season.

If they are going to win tonight they are going to need to start better than last night.
The Devils found themselves 10-2 down after two heats, 20-4 down after four and 28-11 after six, despite a tactical ride victory by Ben Barker in heat five.
But the Devils then won the next three heats, with Ryan Fisher, new signing Todd Kurtz and Cory Gathercole all claiming victories to get the visitors back into the meet.
However, any hopes of a sensational comeback went with Somerset winning heats nine, 10 and 11.
Somerset: Jason Doyle 11+1, Alex Davies 6+1, Sam Masters 7+3, James Wright 8, Claus Vissing 7+1, Joe Haines (Guest) 8+1, Tom Perry 5+1.
Devils: Ben Barker 13, Todd Kurtz 3, Ryan Fisher 9+1, James Holder 5, Cory Gathercole 8+1, Gino Franchetti 2, Nicki Glanz 4+2.
