HOLDERS Plymouth Devils are aiming to serve up a rare Saturday treat for their fans after learning Bournemouth Buccaneers will be their opponents in the semi final of the National League Knockout Cup.

Devils will host the final four, first-leg encounter at St Boniface Arena on July 25 (7.30pm), with the return booked for Thursday, August 13 at Poole.

Bournemouth overturned a 16-point deficit to despatch Weymouth Wildcats and secure a showdown with Plymouth at their Wimborne Road venue.

Jerran Hart (16+) top scored for the swashbuckling Buccaneers who beat their Dorset rivals 62-30 at Poole on Thursday evening, winning the quarter-final 102-86 on aggregate.

Defending champions Plymouth had already booked their place in the semis with a 107-75 aggregate win over Isle of Wight Islanders last month.

Although the Devils lost their second-leg tie 46-44, a spanking 63-29 victory at St Boniface Arena had provided chairman Mike Bowden's side with a more than ample buffer.

And now, owing to a busy fixture list, boss Bowden is anticipating a bumper crowd roaring on the Devils at Marsh Mills in three weeks' time.

"We're really looking forward to meeting Bournemouth and going through to the final again," said Bowden.

"And for about only the second time to my recollection, we'll be hosting a speedway meeting on a Saturday night.

"Saturday night is our fall-back or other option, if we're unable to use Fridays, as in this case we cannot.

"There is a Bronze Helmet meeting that night (July 24) at Weymouth, and we have to send a rider to that competition, leaving us with no option but to use Saturday.

"It should be a terrific tie as I went to Poole on Thursday night and Bournemouth thoroughly deserved their victory.

"They're clearly a good team of riders.

"But I'm quite confident that over the two legs we'll be strong enough to get through."
