“Who is Scoops007 referring to as a 'janner?' Its not ' tony1976,' I know that for sure. as he is not a janner. Neither does he get involved in silly, childish, small minded, homogenous claptrap talk between people from both sides of a local river. He is not a citizen of Plymouth, neither does he come from anywhere near there. However, if Scoops007 thinks that Plymouth is one of the poorest cities in the UK, He or she is very ill-informed and has travelled very little. Compared to 'most' northern cities, Plymouth is much more affluent, cleaner and modern. Also, Plymouth is a cosmopolitan city with large ethnic and regional groups living in it, estimated to be around a third of the population, i.e. Chinese (about 10,000) and Polish (2,000) are some of them. 'Janners,' as you call them, do not even form the bulk of the population any more. Plus, Plymouth's two universities have a population of around 40,000. It is also the only place within fifty miles where there is any worthwhile shopping facilities. Any more facts and figures?”

“Typical green eyes monster comments from janners that just happen to live in one of the poorest cities in the UK. Take a look out of your own window before leaving negative posts.”

“Ok Debbpic, you've made your point about Liskeard, but I still find it boring - as in nothing there - and unattractive. I get what you are saying about Looe, but the holidaymakers do bring some 'social' element here, especially if they are 'northerners,' as they are always very friendly people, with no cultural axe to grind. Yes, I know Truro is a city, but with just 17,000 population, it makes it marginally bigger than Saltash, which has just 1,000 less people, would you believe. If you did not know it was a city, you could be forgiven to think it was a town. When I think that as a child I lived in a council housing estate with 15,000 people living there, it puts it all in perspective. I do really hope that Liskeard gets it's act together, but it has become it's own enemy, allowing retail businesses to set up outside of the town centre, instead of redeveloping it's inner town retail area, like it has promised to do for a generation, but never did.”

“Nice to have it three times tony! :)

Like I said, I don't know where you're from but if you live in or near liskeard or if you have visited recently (which I hope so otherwise your comments are vacuous) you will see that there are a lot of new businesses, a market every fortnight and also a pannier market ue to open at the end of hn month. Aldi is also due to open in April. I agree that compared to chocolate box towns like St Ives (Truro is a city) it's not much to write home about and I think I have expressed my surprise in our inclusion in this list.
I have not said the scumbag tourists should go home, I would never say that as I agree that they bring in money to the county, but I avoid Looe like the plague because of them.”

“Improving in what debbp1. I don't see it. The best thing about it is the road out! The only place you see any life at all is in Morrisons. As for the 'scumbag tourists.' Careful! You are biting the hand that feeds you! Tell them all to go home and see what happens. Cornwall will close down and go into bankruptsy. No jobs and 'even less' shops. Tourism is by far the main industry of Cornwall, let alone Looe. However, I am surprised that Truro or St.Ives was not on that list.”

“Tony1976- I live in liskeard. Not sure where you do but no, it's not brilliant but it's better and improving. Looe on the other hand is a s***hole. Open your eyes. It's dirty and either empty or full of scumbag tourists”

“The Times listed Liskeard as one of the 30 best towns to visit? The Times is kidding of course! Have they actually been to Liskeard? Liskeard is one of the most boring, uninteresting and unattractive towns in the country. There is simply nothing there to see of any interest. Its town centre is almost non-existant, with nothing but empty shops, second hand and property shops. No market or anything! If they had said Looe, then I would have understood.”
