POLICE in Plymouth are appealing for witnesses to an incident of suspected domestic violence.

Pc Simon Bowden, of the Domestic Violence Unit at Charles Cross police station, said the incident happened at around 12.45am on Saturday, February 6.

A couple, apparently having an altercation, were seen walking from the direction of the Copthorne Hotel towards Toys R Us.

The woman, 27, fell to the ground several times and was injured. A member of the public saw the incident and told another by-stander to call the police.

Police are appealing for the original eyewitness, or anyone else who saw the incident, to come forward.

The man, aged 22, is described as wearing dark trousers and a sky-blue shirt with the sleeves rolled up.

A man was later arrested and bailed until March 1 pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Pc Bowden on 08452 777444, quoting crime reference EC/10/1270, or to contact the confidential Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555111
