DINNATON Swimming Club members are celebrating after some superb results in the Devon County Championships.

The Ivybridge-based club, who were well-prepared before the event by head coach Alan Rooker, began their campaign with the 800m freestyle event, which saw Jasmin Morgan stun the crowd by completing the 32 lengths in just 10 minutes to take the club's first gold medal. David Hammond took gold in the 200m backstroke in a Western Counties qualifying time of 3.05.92.

Silver medals were won by Adam Farmer and Tom Bromley in the 100m breaststroke and Jasmine Dunn took the 100m butterfly bronze medal.

The second weekend of the county championships began with the men's 1500m freestyle.

The only Dinnaton entrant was Brad Mullarkey who swam with determination to achieve a time of 20.20.35 and take the bronze medal.

In the 15 years 100m individual medley, Stephanie Bennett took the bronze medal in a time of 1.13.96 and in the men's 200m breaststroke Tom Bromley took the gold medal in his age group. Medals also came in the 14 years 200m backstroke from Charlotte Evans and Jasmin Morgan, who won silver and bronze medals, respectively.

In the 50m breaststroke, Tom Bromley took the gold, while in the 100m backstroke Charlotte Evans took a well earned bronze.

Adam Farmer took bronze in the men's 100m individual medley with a time of 1.10.12, Tom Bromley took silver and Josh Dunn finished in bronze position in the 16 and over category. The weekend's final session saw the women's 200m breaststroke, where Charlotte Evans collected the bronze medal in her age group, as did Stephanie Bennett in the 15 years category.

Hannah Kett reached the championship final for the 200m breaststroke, the first Dinnaton swimmer to do so this year. She finished in fourth place.

The third weekend of the county championships marked yet more success for Dinnaton.

The outstanding achievement was gold medals for Ben Carter in the 50m backstroke and Laura Lamb in the 100m freestyle.

Silver medals were awarded to Jasmin Morgan in the 400m freestyle and Callum Clay in the 50m backstroke. Ben Carter finished third in the 100m butterfly and gained a bronze as did Megan Bowen in the 100m freestyle. Charlotte Evans earned bronze medals in both the 100m freestyle and 400m IM and Hannah Kett took a well-deserved bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke.

The final weekend of the championships saw Dinnaton swimmers achieve new personal best times.

David Hammond was the young star of the championships, taking two gold medals in the 200m individual medley and 200m freestyle.

Lamb won bronze in the hotly contested 200m freestyle. Clay also netted bronze in the 100m backstroke.

There was a bronze medal for Charlotte Evans in the 200m freestyle. She was only the second Dinnaton swimmer to make a championship final, where she finished the 200m fly in fourth place.
