'Distressed' man dies in fall at Dartmoor beauty spot

A man has died after falling from rocks at Haytor on Dartmoor.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called to the popular spot, on the eastern edge of the moor near Ilsington, shortly after 10am on Saturday. Reports had suggested the man,

who was in his 60s, was in a "distressed state".

A police spokesman said: "Officers attempted to communicate with the male but he fell from the rocks and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male's body was conveyed by the police helicopter to Torbay Hospital."

The death is not being treated as suspicious.
