'Dog meat' stall aims to raise awareness of animal cruelty
SHOPPERS in Plymouth were given an unusual choice of food when an animal rights campaigner set up a 'dog meat' stall in the city centre.
The stall appeared to be offering Labrador steaks, dachshund sausages and beagle chops, but in fact it a vegan meat substitute and was part of an Animal Aid campaign against rearing animals for food.
Campaigner Andrew Butler, who manned the stall, said: "Most people eat different parts of various animals every day, without thinking too deeply about what those animals' last moments were like.
"We hope that this will get people to confront the fact that, at the end of the line, all of these animals died with the smell of blood and fear in their nostrils and terror in their eyes, and yet they are no different from the millions of dogs who we, as a nation, dote on."
The 'dog meat' stall is touring British cities as part of Animal Aid's annual Vegan Month promotion.

“Would a lion think about the way an eagle kills a rabbit, while the lion himself kills an antelope? I don't think so. This is due to the fact that there is a thing called the food chain. For the rest of mother nature it's not a problem, but we humans have forgotten this. Every animal or insect on this planet is there to secure the survival of all creatures. The vulgarity in eating dogs lies in the minds of humans. I don't agree with eating dogs but, if there was nothing else to eat, i wouldn't waste a thought about it. So chew on that people :)”

“On first glance at the headline I was rather hoping there was going to be a dog-meat stand at the Farmers Market.
And yes, I have eaten dog meat (along with Donkey and Horse) in the Far-East and it was lovely.
We must realise that dogs (and Horse & Donkey etc..) are, to other cultures, simply an animal to be eaten in exactly the same way we treat animals (eg, Cows) that are sacred in other parts of the world.
As for the slaughter method, there will always be backstreet slaughter houses abusing these animals in our and other cultures.
Does anyone really think that we in the UK always slaughter cows, pigs, sheep etc.. in a humane way?”
