Downpours fail to put off beach clean-up volunteers

PLYMOUTH beach-cleaners have been out in force at Batten Bay.

Members of the Marine Conservation Society's Plymouth group combed the coastline for about two hours in the face of lashing rain at the weekend.

Amy Bugg, secretary for the group, said that everyone had fun despite the weather, which had put some people off coming along. The volunteers had recovered mainly plastic debris and fishing lines.
