Police say an 80-year-old man in the Yaris was walking wounded and was complaining of whiplash injuries.
He was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth as a precaution.
The driver of the Polo, believed to be a woman, was suffering from suspected spinal injuries.
She was placed on a spinal board by paramedics and taken to Derriford Hospital.
The road was cleared by 2.15pm but traffic remained back-logged for some time.

“You can ban turns on a road and they have on Outland roulad but still people ignore the signs , worst being for the petrol station when the time they wait there roughly equates to the time it takes to go to the lights at seagarve road and come back up and in the petrol station”

“the whole point here is the crash was not outside the dinner but further on at the junction of little down lane nothing to do with the dinner ,but you cant ban turnings on roads it is the drivers not the turnings fault ,and worse still is the rounabout at tescos three lanes into one ?”

“Perhaps drivers shouldn't turn right into the diner. Perhaps they should think that it might be safer for them if they continued on to Roborough roundabout then doubled back so they could turn left into the diner car park instead. Only takes an extra minute on the road and no-one could possibly be in that much of a hurry to eat that they couldn't afford to lose an entire minute of their time.”

“Nice comment jackplane, but it isn't very helpful when you are waiting to turn right into the diner and someone crashes into you from behind - not much you can do about it.
The next time the waiting car could be shunted into oncoming traffic (and that might be you driving at 60 MPH) .. it is a serious accident waiting to happen and the road layout clearly needs to be addressed.”

“The simple option to stop accidents happening here is to ban right turns into and out of the Dartmoor Diner, traffic would have to take alternative routes via the Roborough roundabout and back up if coming from the Yelverton direction to get into the cafe, traffic coming out of the cafe and wanting to head to Plymouth would have to turn left towards Yelverton and turn off at the Milton Combe/Bere Alston one way road and back onto the A386.”
