YOUNGSTERS Sam Matavesi and Ben Rogers are returning to Plymouth Albion for the 2012-13 season.

Flanker Matavesi, 20, made eight appearances, five as a replacement, for Albion during the 2010-11 campaign before returning to his local club Camborne in search of regular first team rugby.

Rogers, meanwhile, had a shorter spell at Albion last year. The prop, also 20, started the season at Brickfields and featured in their British & Irish Cup match at Moseley before Exeter offered him a chance to cover for injuries.

However, his stay at Sandy Park was also short and he made just one replacement appearances in the LV=Cup before re-joining Newton Abbot, who he had played for in the 2010-11 campaign.

Rogers will be battling it out with fellow props David Morton, Ryan Hopkins, Jack Andrew, Luke Cowan-Dickie and Lloyd Fairbrother for a place in Albion's squad next season.

Matavesi will be competing with Aaron Carpenter, Sean-Michael Stephen, Wayne Sprangle, Herbie Stupple and Sam Hocking for a spot in the back-row, although the Cornishman can also play centre.

Also linked with returns to Brickfields in recent days have been Dan Parkes and Colin Stewart.

Albion are believed to be keen on adding Parkes to their coaching team. He has recently helped guide Brixham to promotion to National Division Three South West by winning the South West One title.

Scottish lock Stewart, meanwhile, has been player-coach at Newton Abbot since returning from a spell playing in France.

Albion head coach Nat Saumi has made no secret of his desire to bring in at least one forwards coach for next term.

Meanwhile, former Albion winger Liam Gibson has been released by Championship winners London Welsh. Also released by the Exiles are former Pirates hooker Vili Ma'asi and former Exeter and Bristol hooker Saul Nelson.

And Addison Lockley, dual-registered with Albion last season, has joined Championship rivals Moseley following his release by Exeter Chiefs.

ALBION number eight Aaron Carpenter will captain Canada tonight when they take on Italy in Toronto. He is joined in Canada's team by former Albion players Tyler Hotson and James Pritchard.

ALBION'S Supporters' Travel Club are making travel arrangements for the Championship match at Jersey on November 3. Departing from Plymouth on Friday, November 2 and returning on the Monday, prices will include coach travel, flights and B&B accommodation.

Provisionally, the cost based on two people sharing a room will be £300 per person. To register interest email book@supporterstravel.co.uk by Monday (June 18).
