Dutch fisherman in court accused of assault, burglary and knife crime
A DUTCH fisherman has appeared in court accused of assault, burglary and possession of a knife.
Arie Schaap faced Plymouth magistrates accused of a spate of offences on November 8.
The 24-year-old allegedly entered the bedroom of a home in Charlotte Street, Devonport, as a trespasser and took a computer, a box and two coats, together valued at £1,400.
Schaap, who lives in Holland, is charged with common assault against a woman.

He also allegedly assaulted a city police constable in the execution of his duty.
Schaap is also said to have had a fishing knife in Keyham Street without good reason or lawful authority.
He has so far indicated “no plea” to all four matters and the case is heading to Plymouth Crown Court.
Gareth Warden, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said Schaap was a Dutch fisherman whose boat had been moored in the city at the time of the offences.
He added he was alleged to have headbutted the PC.
Magistrates remanded Schaap in custody while papers are prepared for a judge.
He will next come back before the court on December 14.
