N WHEELAN'S letter on euthanasia being made legal made me so angry I had to reply. What a sad man he is, it seems clear he hasn't had or been looking after family who are very poorly and have no quality of life and that is what it's all about, the quality of someone's life.

I don't agree with ending a person's life due to age or just being unhappy, but when you see a healthy active person lose the ability to be active and lose their good health due to accident or illness, it's heart breaking, not just for them but the family looking after them. Even worse if they have to be put in a care home because they need extra care that's not possible to be given at home.

Each case should be looked at individually and after talking to doctors and staff looking after that person and talking to the family and the person concerned, that's when it should be decided what to do, but the person who wants to end their life should have the final say.

I work in care and I see people suffer every day and the heartache their family goes though. Also I watched my poor dad suffer for months locked in a body that didn't work, he couldn't even talk. I lost my dad months before he died and if the law had been passed I know he would have wanted to die with dignity.

“Sadly Tracey, there are some amongst us who are against dying with dignity. They would prefer long suffering to the end. Assisted dying will come and I hope before I need it.”
