Enterprise Week opens with economy Q&A
PLYMOUTH Enterprise Week started in fine style yesterday with an event organised by the city's Chamber of Commerce.
The event – which was called Eurekanomics! – took place at the Duke of Cornwall hotel in front of scores of businesspeople.
Mark Berrisford-Smith, senior economist at HSBC, spoke on the state of the UK economy and was grilled by a panel.
Event spokeswoman Carly Neenan said: "It went really well. It was the first event for Enterprise Week, and about 170 people from businesses across Plymouth came along to support it.
"The topic was the state of the UK economy at the moment. It was a great way to kick off the week."
The five-day Enterprise Week programme, which has been organised to champion businesses in the city as part of National Enterprise Week, will draw to a close on Friday.
Highlights will include the INSPIRE Skills Festival at Plymouth Albion tomorrow, and The Herald's Youth Awards on Thursday at City College Plymouth.
The Make Your Mark Challenge also took place at City College Plymouth yesterday afternoon and organisers said it was a success.
