A PLYMOUTH restaurant has signed an exclusive deal with a country estate to be supplied with pheasants.

The Barbican's award-winning Glassblowing House restaurant will now receive birds bred and reared at Brownstone Manor Estate in the South Hams.

The estate, just outside Holbeton, is owned by Mike Hockin, chairman of Plymouth-based London and Westcountry Estates and his team of game keepers.

The Glassblowing House's head chef Joe Stransbie has already created a "unique" recipe consisting of pan-fried breast in butter and olive oil with a blend of fresh herbs.

The 90-cover bar and restaurant was recently awarded the Best Independent Restaurant and Best Employer in Hospitality awards by Caterer.com.
