A JEALOUS dad who bombarded his ex with nearly 2,000 texts and phone calls in just over a week has been slapped with a restraining order.

Jason Annis' relentless calls, texts and Facebook messages made the woman's life hell, Plymouth Magistrates' Court was told.

They ranged from questions about the couple's 10-month-old baby to threats of suicide, the court heard.

Annis, aged 27, was in the dock on Monday, where he admitted harassing the woman between June 18 and July 8 this year.

The bench was told how their short-lived relationship had broken down at the end of 2008, though Annis kept in regular contact with his young son.

However, his child maintenance payments began to dry up in April this year and he was 'hurt' to discover his ex had a new partner.

In one eight-day period, the court heard, she received a barrage of 1,046 phone calls and 635 text messages from him — including 56 which arrvied while police were taking a statement from her..

In mitigation, Stephen Walker said Annis, of St Martins Court, Liskeard, was 'in a mess' at the time of the harassment.

Magistrates bailed him until August 23 so a pre-sentence report could be produced, but banned him from contacting his victim or going within 200 yards of her home.
