Exeter Castle homes permission bid
SEVERAL months after residents moved in, an application to turn one of the city's most historic landmarks into flats has been submitted.
The retrospective plans to create eight residential units, five office spaces, artist studios and exhibition areas at Exeter Castle will now be considered by the city council.
But the owners face an anxious wait to see whether the plans are approved otherwise they could face enforcement action.
The site was bought in 2005 and since then the new owners have been attempting to find a commercially viable use for the castle.
It had intended to house four restaurants within the development and create the 'Covent Garden of the South West.'

“James, it makes me glad that you have now exposed yourself as a "have" not a "have-not". I speak for the people and not just myself. I can see the way this city is going and it depresses me. Its people like you that rest up in your secure homes that get my goat to be honest. You really should have more pride in this city, and I dont just mean the shops. This city has a high percentage of "forgotten about " or "invisible" people and these are where my loyalties lie. Unlike your selfish and picky comments.”

“My point has nothing to do with wether i like what's happened to the castle or not. It has everything to do with the fact that you constantly find fault in every single story on the internet! Your constant whining gives me eye strain! I love this city and i'm in no way a burden, i own my house unlike some people round here.”

“What a shame there are far too many people who dont care about anything unless it affects them directly James. This is our history we are talking about. It just goes to the highest bidder. Yes, sit back and watch evrything get sold off, till we the people have no heritage. I am suprised that Exeter castle was ever sold off anyway! Think I have got a fair point actually, and by the way, we need the moaners like myself or else we just all become like stepford clones.”

“Well luckily Brin, no one cares a fig for your constant moaning!”
