Exhibition of leading painter's work
AN EXHIBITION featuring the work of one Britain's leading painters goes on display at Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery on Saturday March 27.
'Kurt Jackson: River' showcases a diverse selection of work created over the last 10 years by the Cornish-based artist.
The works range from large-scale oils and acrylics to small-scale etchings and sculpture.
All are based on projects inspired by rivers including the Thames, Avon, Dart and the Liffey in Ireland, as well as our very own River Tamar.
Some of Kurt's most recent river-based works have been inspired by the Tamar – as he captures and celebrates the waterway that helps shape our city.
To tie in with this, a small selection of specimens originating from the Tamar Valley will also be on display in the gallery.
The specimens, all from the museum's natural history collections, will include butterflies, beetles and birds.
The exhibition is a key part of a season of shows linked to Cornwall at Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery.
The museum is offering a number of events and activities in connection with the Kurt Jackson exhibition.
Family-friendly holiday workshops are being held on Wednesday April 7, Wednesday June 2 and Thursday June 3 – these are free and there is no need to book in advance.
There will also be contemporary craft workshops for adults on Saturday June 5 and Saturday July 3.
