“PL7 is nice? All the expensive houses are off manamead road.
There are plenty of houses in manchester under £100k. In plymouth most of the ones under £100k are post war prefabs and hard to get mortgages for.”

“@timplymouth how do you work that out? Using Zoopla, the area of South Manchester (Wa15) where I live has an average house value of £349,518. Compare that to the nice bit of Plymouth (pl7) where the average is £172,432!!! Not aware of many second home owners in Altrincham!!”

“Our house prices are very high when you compare them to places up north. If it wasn't for all the second homers the prices around here would probably be closer to Manchester.”

“How can a City whose shopping mall is anchored by Primark be expensive to live in?
Why does not John Lewis or Ikea come here?
The people doing this survey should get real!”

“As ever a wholly misleading headline. Plymouth houses are dirt cheap but because of the very low income and social demography they are proportionately high compared with low wages.”

“Ah yes. The housing market's picking up nicely too, according to estate agents.”
