FA and Goals have launched the only FA Fives women's league in the county at
Goals Soccer Centre, Plymouth. The league is part of the Get Into
Football project in Plymouth which aims to get more players aged 16 and over
playing football.
The
FA Fives gives five- a-side teams the chance to compete for a place to play in
the grand finals at Wembley, where the UEFA Champions League Final will be
played as well this year! Chris French, Devon FA's Get Into Football
Officer said, "This is an excellent opportunity for female players to get
involved with this national competition and will provide the first female small
sided league in the city. With this league being the only league in the county
giving women this opportunity we hope to see lots of interest and will
provide excellent competition for the sides."
The
women's FA Fives league will take place every Tuesday from 5th
February and has limited space. The winning side will qualify for the
next round of this prestigious competition! The league will only cost teams £10
to register and £15 per game (or a maximum of £3 per person!), making it one of
the cheapest leagues in the city. Chris went on to say, "With a limited
number of women's leagues taking place across the country sides entering this
league have a very strong chance to be making it all the way to Wembley."
