Factory's gas leak leads to evacuation
CUSTARD factory workers were taken to hospital after a chemical spill at the famous Ambrosia plant.
Eight people suffered breathing problems after a nitric acid gas leak inside the creamery.
Sixty other employees at the site in Lifton, near Launceston, were decontaminated and given clean clothes. None of the eight workers treated were seriously injured, Devon and Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said.
They were taken to hospital as "a precaution", a spokesman added.

However, the spillage prompted a mass response from the emergency services.
Police closed a road to prevent motorists from going too close to the plant.
Six fire crews, from Launceston, Tavistock, Okehampton and Hatherleigh, were also sent to the incident, which happened at around 1pm on Friday. Emergency services said just a "small amount" of the noxious gas had escaped and that there was no risk to the public.
