Lucas Meagor wants to raise £10,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust this year by taking on a series of gruelling challenges in the UK and beyond.

Mr Pond, a carpentry and engineering lecturer at City College Plymouth, joined him for a family-led push at the recent race through the Georgian city.

The 29-year-old and his wife Tamsin also took their daughter along to the event, where seven of the relatives ran in the linked Fun Run.

She said: "It was a great occasion and we enjoyed cheering the family round and seeing Charlie do so well in his first half marathon."

Part of Mr Meagor's "Big Plan" to celebrate a decade of marathon running, Mr Pond crossed the finishing line just four minutes behind his experienced cousin-in-law.

Mr Meagor's and Mrs Pond's uncle Derek Walker, also from Plymouth, had been planning to join them in the race but had to pull out at the last minute with a knee injury.

Mr Meagor was inspired to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust after spending a weekend with friends, two children of whom suffer from the condition, which made him determined to do his bit.

In total, over 60 members of the family cheered on the runners, one relative even flying in from Switzerland.

Intrepid Mr Meagor, whose parents got married in Millbrook, now turns his attentions to running four marathons in four weeks.

He is taking on the Paris course in April, followed by London, Limerick and then Skopje, in Macedonia.

He will then do a mile's swimin Lake Windermere in June, cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats in July and climb Mount Kilimanjaro, in Tanzania, in the autumn.
