Fantastic voyage to the time of Tudors
CHILDREN at Montpelier Primary School in Beacon Park sailed back 500 years on a voyage of discovery into Tudor times.
Year 5 teacher Laura Harris said the youngsters in her year learned about Tudor explorers such as Drake and Hawkins and their voyages, and visited the Elizabethan House on the Barbican and Drake's home at Buckland Abbey.
They learned about forces, including floating and sinking, sang sea-shanties and wrote their own.
They also tried Tudor dancing, read and wrote poetry.

The city museum lent original and reproduction artifacts from the Tudor era, and parents helped the youngsters make ship's biscuits.
As a finale, the school staged a Voyages Day, with the children designing and making boats out of recycled materials.
