Tavistock's Heather Fell helps GB claim team world silver in China
TAVISTOCK'S Heather Fell helped Great Britain to a team silver at the Modern Pentathlon World Championships in China.
Olympic silver medallist Fell finished eighth overall in the championship, having qualified third in her semi-final.
She was the top British competitor with 5072 points.
However, her young team-mate Freyja Prentice was just behind her in ninth on 5048 points, with fellow youngster Samantha Murray claiming 22nd spot at the competition held in Chengdu.
France won the team prize, with Amelie Case leading them home with the individual title.
Fell was eighth after the fencing with 19 wins and 15 defeats.
She then moved up a place following the swim and she remained in seventh after the riding event, where none of the 35 finalists went clear in the allotted time.
Fell dropped 74 points from the perfect 1,200.
The Tavistock athlete then moved up to fourth after the first shooting element of the run/shoot, but had a disappointing second shoot to drop down to eighth.
