The proud patriot is also the brains behind Plymouth's annual St George's Day celebrations, which raise thousands of pounds for charity every year. The Labour councillor teamed up with Plymouth University student, Metal Snare Productions film-maker and fellow Fata He worker Bill Sheikh to produce the 30-minute movie.
It will be shown at Plymouth Central Library's meeting room at 5pm tomorrow, followed by a question-and-answer session with the pair and the chance to dip into some refreshments.
The screening is part of national Black History Month celebrations.
Cllr Singh became the city's first ever Sikh councillor when he was elected in May last year.
He said: "This has been a fantastic opportunity to work with Bill from Plymouth University, Plymouth Central Library, and to look back and document on how it all happened.
"It is a question I do get asked a lot. It also highlights the contribution made by members of the black, Asian and minority ethnic community''
Cllr added that there had been interest in showing the film on the Sikh Channel, a free-to-air satellite, internet and Sky Digital TV station.
Entry to tomorrow evening's premiere is free. However, spaces are limited so booking is essential, organisers have warned.
To reserve a place, visit www.eventbrite.co.uk/event/4520514982.
Alternatively, contact Plymouth Central Library on 01752 305901 or by emailing library@plymouth.gov.uk.
A second public showing, which is set to be held at Plymouth University, is also being planned to take place next month.

“By all accounts i hear Mr Singh is a decetn chap etc etc,and im sure he is;but what bothers me is that without fail, whenever a project is run by someone from an 'ethnic minority'you can be certain someone ( in this case the filmaker ) will also be of the same ethnic background and that reeks of racial discrimination..so much for multiculturalism and integration.”

“@nevman... "exploitative British Empire" .... and not one word against the rulers of these countries that were ( and still are ) to do deals for themselves which enabled this and a lot more ... like black people catching their mates to be slaves.... but hey .... who gets the blame ? .... I do not need history lessons from the like of you .”
