IN THE last 18 months I have pestered police, PCSOs and Councillors Wiggins, Churchill and others in Plymstock, regarding cars parked half on half off pavements and parked in a similar fashion in junctions. The councillors refer you to the police and PCSOs and tell you they have no powers and the police really do not want to know. So what do these people actually do in their service to the public? It would appear that the subject of parking is a priority to no-one.

The police appear to have little or no knowledge of the law concerning parking. Why should they ignore vehicles that park in a position likely to cause a danger to others? Legislators saw fit to attach a fine and three penalty points to such an offence.

The council has the powers from the Department of Transport to prevent such parking. If the authorities in London can implement and enforce no parking on pavements anywhere, why can it not be done in various trouble-spots in and around the city?

Would anyone do anything if we all parked in the Piazza on Saturday rather than paying for parking? Somehow I think they would.

“rob5gt, I get people dropping schoolkids at Dunstone school who either are so arrogant they think the signs requesting them not to obstruct the garages don't apply to them, or are so ignorant they don't understand them.
By restricting visibility of anyone coming/going from their garage, they are increasing the risk of one of their kids being run down.
If some of them could find a couple more brain cells, they might qualify as morons.
There is a parking hotline phone number which the parking department allegedly access remotely and swing into action to deal with illegally dumped vehicles.”

“my wife was almost knocked over by a taxifirst driver going along the pavement outside goosewell school last week.when spoken to he shrugged his shoulders...they constantly do this and have taken pics of them and taxi firm did nothing.i have also witness numerous parents driving along the pavement as too stupid to wait by a gap to let people past.the **** pcso just stands there chatting and a waste of space.its a shame i cant pass these pics to the council department that fines people for parking on the pavements.....hold on that means i am doing THEIR job.”

“I agree parking in Plymouth is getting worse. Look at all the idiots that park in front of the Plymouth life centre. There is clearly signs not to park there but no one seems to care any more and the police or council won't do a thing.

Where people park now is dangerous to the public and something need to be done before someone gets hurt or run over because a car is parked where it should not be”
