Folk duo with real pedigree
PREMIER roots couple Miranda Sykes and Rex Preston arrive at the Westward Inn, Lee Mill, for Folk On The Moor this Sunday.
They will be performing tracks from their new eponymous long player, which has been enjoying rave reviews, Mike Harding of BBC Radio 2 calling it "a real cracker".

Both performers have wonderful musical pedigrees, Miranda having performed with Show Of Hands since 2004.
In that time she has helped augment their sound with her rich double bass and fabulous harmonies and aiding their progression from folk duo to hard hitting acoustic band, selling out UK and European tours and headlining some of the biggest festivals around the world.
Often described as a musical chameleon, because of her ability to slip seamlessly between musical genres, she has also worked with Pressgang, Firebrand, Leon Rossleson, Kirsty McGee and many more and is building a contemporary repertoire that encompasses folk jazz, rock and pop.
Praised by Phil Beer of Show of Hands as on of "the new generation of brilliant virtuoso instrumentalists raising the bar in British Blue Grass", Rex meanwhile was last seen on the folk scene when his band Jane On Thunder reached the final of the BBC Young Folk Awards. Since then he has been creating a strong port folio of electronic music.
In 2009 he took part in the Walnut Valley Mandolin Championships in Winfield, Kansas, where he came third. He is now teaching mandolin students of all abilities.
The unusual collaboration between Miranda and Rex of double bass and mandolin works remarkably well in this context, creating a timeless feel with universal appeal.
