Yelverton's Leon Fricker can seal good week in Wessex finale
YELVERTON'S Leon Fricker will look forward to completing a successful week tomorrow when he competes for Wessex League champions Devon against Gwent seconds at Woodlake Park.
Fricker already teed off a great week by winning the Kashmir Cup at Royal North Devon.

Now Devon second team skipper Colin Nolan is hoping that Fricker – who carded 145 over two rounds at RND – can carry his cup-winning form into tomorrow's final Wessex League match of the season.
Tavistock-based Nolan, secretary manager at Torquay Golf Club, said: "We have won the league already but we are trying to make it four wins on the bounce and finish the season as unbeaten champions.
"Leon is in great form, having won the Kashmir Cup at RND, and I think all the team will want to end the league season on a winning note."
Nolan will include Leon's brother Ryan Fricker as well as another up-and-coming Yelverton teenager Daniel Rosevear in his Gwent-bound second team selection.
There are also starting places for other local players including Ryan Acres – who plays at Yelverton – and Bigbury's Richard Woods.
Woods will pair up in the leading foursomes with Leon Fricker to spearhead Devon's final day bid to finish the season on a winning note following a 9-6 win over Wiltshire at Dainton Park in their penultimate league match.
Nolan said: "Rich made a winning debut last time out and looked really good, so I fancy those two will get us off to a winning start again."
Nolan's 10 also includes Exeter duo Steve Buzza and Ryan Pope, Fingle Glen's James and Sandy Urquhart and Dainton Park's Hayden Priscott.
In the first team Channel League, Neil Holland's third placed Devon host unbeaten leaders Gwent at Woodbury Park seeking a big score – at least 10½-4½ – to overhaul the table-topping visitors from Wales in their final match.
Such a big win may still not be enough to clinch the title as second-placed Gloucestershire – who drew away to Glamorgan at Wenvoe Castle last Sunday – host basement side Cornwall in the league's final match a week tomorrow at Cotswold Hills.
Nevertheless Holland has fostered a great "everything to play for" spirit and can name a team that includes vice-captain Adam Bridgewater (Tavistock), Yelverton's James Smith and Bigbury's in-form Sam Edwards, runner-up in the Kashmir Cup.
The Devon skipper can also call upon the likes of South West amateur champion Billy Hemstock, of Teignmouth.
