A POPULAR fun day has raised more than £1,000 for repairs to a community centre in Plymouth.

Stoke Fun Day, an annual event organised by the committee of the Stoke Youth and Community Centre, was attended by about 400 people on Saturday.

Committee chairman Patricia Kinsman said the event raised £1,300 towards repairing the centre, and was enjoyed by all.

She added: "All the stalls have asked if they can come back next year, and a lot of them said it was the best and friendliest event they have attended."

The fun day, at Mount Pleasant Park, included craft stalls, refreshments, children's activities such as face painting and a bouncy castle, and music from Laira Youth Band, Guitars for Youth, and DJ Wally.
