THE widow of a former Royal Marine who was killed in Iraq is holding a charity fundraiser on the anniversary of his death.

Alan Wimpenny, 46, was killed while working for a private security firm in Baghdad on September 27 eight years ago.

His widow Terri is staging a raffle and collection at Oceans Fish Bar in Benbow Street, Devonport, to raise money for the forces charity Help for Heroes.

The chip shop worker said: "It's always a bad day for us and we usually have the day off. But this year we have no choice but to open so I thought I might as well make the most of it and make the best out of a bad thing."
