POOR children in Africa will benefit from a charity music night in a Barbican bar.

The event was organised by Debbie Williams, founder of Gambian Projects and took place at the colourful B-Bar.

There was music from singer-songwriter Ben Carr, as well as an auction led by an Elvis impersonator.

The money raised – £1,442 – will provide a container of goods for The Orchard, a school Ms Williams has set up in The Gambia. She said it was "a really fantastic night".
