THE next slot in the Newton Abbot and District Society of Arts (NADSA) season features Georgian pianist Marina Nadiradze.

Marina (pictured) studied at the State Conservatoire in Tbilisi, winning her first international award in Vilnius, Lithuania at the age of nine.

She later studied at Glasgow's Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, winning the second prize and Lawrence Glover Silver Medal at the 2001 Scottish International Piano Competition. Her NADSA programme opens with two Scarlatti Sonatas, and includes works by Schubert, Chopin, Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit, and Rondo – Toccata by fellow-Georgian, Revaz Lagidze.

The concert is on Friday next week at the town's Courtenay Centre at 7.30pm.

Tickets (£14 / £2 student / accompanied under 16s free) are available at the door.

For further information, please contact the secretary (01626 368318). The March concert will feature Rhys Matthews (percussion) and the season concludes in April with a clarinet and piano recital. The venue for these last two events moves to Stover School.
