Golf in Cornwall set to hit television screens
SALTASH-based Cornwall golf development officer Simon Wood is at the fore of a new, fortnightly television programme aimed at promoting golf in the county and starting on Monday.
The 30-minute programmes will be hosted by Wood and focus on a mixture of features aimed at attracting new golfers to play golf in the county as well as appealing to established players.

Wood said: "This is a really exciting opportunity to raise the profile of golf in Cornwall and get more people playing the game.
"Each programme will feature a visit to two Cornish golf clubs, offer a round-up of local golf news and include a grassroots section for beginners and returners."

First off the tee, Monday's programme will provide an introduction to the Cornwall Golf Partnership, which works to grow the game in the county by encouraging more people to take up the sport.
The inaugural Golf in Cornwall programme will also focus on the China Fleet Golf Club on the banks of the River Tamar at Saltash as well as the county's oldest golf club West Cornwall, at Lelant near St Ives.
Future programmes will promote Cornwall Golf Week, which takes place from April 6-14, when more than 20 clubs will offer free taster sessions for beginners.
Golf in Cornwall is set to air for the first time at 10pm on Monday on Sky Television channel 212 and Freesat Channel 401.
WEST Cornwall will meet St Enodoc in the final of the Cornwall Team Championship at Newquay Golf Club on Sunday, March 24 after beating St Mellion in their weather-delayed semi-final.
West Cornwall edged past St Mellion in their rescheduled semi-final at St Enodoc last Sunday and now go through to meet another team of saints.
Tomorrow Devon Ladies play their annual pre-season friendly against Devon Men at Woodbury Park, stage for this season's South West Women's Championship.
Devon Girls meet Devon U16 Boys in a junior friendly at Exeter tomorrow.
