HE remains part of the squad, but Brixham-born Dan Gosling will hope for more time on the pitch when England Under-21s face Lithuania in Vilnius tonight in a Group Nine European Championship qualifier.

The 19-year old midfielder was a late replacement for injured Everton team-mate Jack Rodwell ahead of last Saturday's game against Portugal at Wembley, making his U21 debut in the 1-0 victory.

However, Gosling, first discovered by his former club Plymouth Argyle while playing for Brixham United under-12s in the Pioneer Youth League, had to wait until the first minute of second half added time before coach Stuart Pearce introduced him as substitute in place of Aston Villa's Fabian Delph.

And the fact the Young Lions kept a clean sheet having conceded four times in their previous three games, suggests Pearce is likely to stick to the same starting line-up with Gosling on the bench alongside Jack Cork (Coventry City), Kyle Naughton (Spurs) and the unused Frank Fielding (Blackburn Rovers), Henri Lansbury (Watford), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea) and Zavon Hines (West Ham).
