Grenade found in Plymouth's Central Park
A DEVICE found in Central Park was an unexploded hand grenade, police say.
The object was discovered at the weekend by a couple out walking their dog.
Plymouth police cordoned off an area of Central Park near Trelawney Road and called in a bomb disposal team.
The bomb squad destroyed the grenade in a controlled explosion away from the park, police said.

Gita Reading, from Peverell, felt the object underfoot when she was out walking the dog in Central Park on Saturday afternoon.
Her husband Anthony identified it as a hand grenade.
Mr Reading described the device as a classic pineapple-style grenade. He said it appeared that recent heavy rain had washed away the earth to expose it.

“Pineapple grenade is a British design, if it was German it would have been a Stick Grenade...anyway aircraft do not drop hand grenades ..especially in WW2 raids.
