HMIC: police must do better
URGENT action must be taken by senior police officers to ensure anti- social behaviour is taken more seriously, the head of the police inspectorate has said.
Research by HM Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) found officers did not turn up to almost one in four anti-social behaviour complaints (23 per cent) and as a result almost all those victims were unhappy with the police response.
Chief Inspector of Constabulary Denis O'Connor said the recording of information about harassment, criminal damage and verbal abuse is 'inadequate' and must be improved.
He said more than half of the 43 forces in England and Wales could not automatically identify repeat victims, leaving officers in ignorance of some of the most vulnerable people.
Devon and Cornwall Police declined to comment.

“Top reporting again Herald, full of information and research I see - looks like more of a cut and paste job - very poor.
Perhaps you should add "parents should do more and take responsibility for the acts of their out of control children who make peoples lives a misery".
The police have enough to do with limited resources without having to act as parents and guardians to children who have lazy uncaring parents that let them roam the streets in packs.
Tacking ASB is not just for the police - it is for the whole community to stand up and deal with it - that includes councils and other agencies.”
