Two in hospital after car and bus crash
TWO people were taken to hospital after the car they were travelling in collided with a stationary bus.
The front of the silver Citroen Xantia was left crumpled after it collided with the rear of the 40D Citybus at around 3.30pm yesterday.

ACCIDENT: Police at the scene following the crash on Budshead Road
The single-decker bus was sitting at a stop in Budshead Road, just before the junction with Tamerton Foliot Road.
The driver of the bus, who asked not to be named, said he was serving a passenger at the time when he felt a heavy thud at the rear of the vehicle.
He said: "I felt the bus lurch. I had a full load of around 35 sitting passenger plus a further two standing.
"I have no idea how it happened.
"Fortunately another 40 service was close behind and we were able to transfer all the passengers onto the next bus."
Fire crews from Crownhill and Camels Head attended the scene along with paramedics from the South Western Ambulance Service and police.
Crews used hydraulic rescue equipment to take the roof of the Xantia off to safely extricate the male driver who was said to be suffering minor neck injuries.
His 69-year-old female passenger was also taken to Derriford Hospital with neck injuries.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
Contact police on 08452 777444 quoting log number 755 of 5/8/09.

“Another bus driver: if you drove round with a larger bus then I fear your God complex will only become more extreme. you dont have to give way when you are so large a vehicle, do you? Why pull into an empty bus bay when you will have to force your way back into traffic? Park in the middle of the road and block traffic, that's ok, isn't it? That's if you can be bothered to actually complete a route............”

“Why do these older drivers insist on driving cars that are to large and powerful for them, why don't they invest in smaller easy to manage ones after all how often do they have passengers or have loads of stuff to put in them”

“then again the car driver could of been wanting to park in the bus stop and lets face every car driver or taxi dose it and the last thing you expect to see in a bus stop is a bus, how many of you car drivers park in that bus stop while you nip to the shop blocking the bus from getting in there, im just very supprised to see the bus fully in that stop.”

“You all mock the driver of the car, however have any of you thought that the car may have suffer a mechanical failure and hitting the bus was a better option than mounting the pavement and hitting pedestrians! People don't drive into buses on purpose, but I guess you all so perfect that you've never damaged your car while driving it, I think NOT!!!”
