Hair and beauty contest
CITY pupils have shown off their hair-raising creative skills with a beauty competition.
About 25 hair and beauty students at Tamarside Community College took part in the annual event.
They styled, backcombed, brushed and straightened their models' hair to perfection, adding make-up and fashionable clothing for the finishing touch.
"They really were brilliant," said Val Amos, leader in hairdressing studies at the college.
"This was our fourth show at the school and it was bigger and better than previous years. The students' work was phenomenal."
Pupils from years 9, 10, 11 and 12 used their creative talents to produce a stunning collection of hairstyles, all of which were judged by people in the hair trade.
"The judges were amazed that the students in the school could prepare and execute such lovely work," said Val.
"It was extremely professional."
The top hair stylists from each of the year groups were given prizes including hair dryers, curling tongs and shampoo and conditioning products.
"The students were absolutely amazing," said Val.
"The competition helps them to learn about team-building, and gives them the opportunity to be expressive and creative."
