THERE are still places available for the two Health and Safety Days being organised for young people in farming through the Rural Business School at Duchy College. The Devon event takes place on March 17 at Bicton College, starting at 10am. There will be seminars and practical demonstrations and the event is open to all YFC members and students who live on a farm or work in a land-based industry. THE South Devon Herd Book Society's Spring Show and Sale takes place at Exeter Livestock Centre on March 24. The entries include 64 pedigree bulls, including three organic, and 30 pedigree heifers, all TB tested and bluetongue vaccinated. Judging begins at 9am and the sale at 12.30pm. THE Exeter Seed Swap and Permaculture Day 2010, taking place on March 20 at St Sidwell's Centre, Exeter, is a not-for-profit event that aims to promote the saving and free exchange of local varieties of fruit and vegetable seeds. It will bring together allotment holders, smallholders, gardeners, related charities and organisations to share and advise and to exchange local varieties of seed which can then be propagated more widely in the following growing season.
