Heather Knight scores 38 as England lose opening ICC Women's cricket World Cup match
PLYMOUTH'S Heather Knight scored 38 as England lost their opening ICC Women's cricket World Cup match against Sri Lanka in Mumbai, India.
Former Plymstock batter Knight, who hit two fours in her 62-ball knock of 38, was third top scorer behind Jenny Gunn (52) and Amy Jones (41) as England posted 238-8 from their 50 overs.
England, who return to action tomorrow against hosts India, were edged out of victory on the last ball of the game as Sri Lanka (244-9) triumphed by one wicket.
