Get Moving is a new campaign which launches in The Herald's HomeSeeker supplement tomorrow and aims to re-instil confidence in the local property market and provide informative articles.

Paul Curtis, partner at Moving On Estate Agents said: "This is a promising start to the New Year. Providing on-going advice will help to de-mystify the buying and selling process and encourage people to move onto and up the property ladder."

The housing market in Plymouth has shown positive performance in the last year with prices showing growth in July to September compared to April to June, according to the BBC UK House Prices index 2012.

Over coming months there will be features in HomeSeeker on finance, aspects of buying and selling a home and real life case studies from Plymouth people.

Ian Mitchell, director at Plymouth Homes said: "Well done HomeSeeker! I was lucky enough to be at the launch of the 'Get Moving' campaign and think that it is great that some positivity is being injected into this market.

"The constantly negative news being reported in the press over the past few years has lead to a false impression that the market is not moving.

"Although we are obviously not experiencing the volume of transactions and price levels of 2006/2007, this market is 'ticking over' very nicely.

"Mortgages are available to customers with a good credit history and deposit.

"This week we have seen the first 95 per cent mortgage re-introduced to the market place and this can only help fuel the busy start to the year that we are experiencing at Plymouth Homes. We believe that by promoting our clients' properties in the HomeSeeker we are using the best print platform available and are delighted to be a part of this upbeat campaign."

“Could't agree more with you 'puzzled1' the Herald are constantly harping on about the negativity of Plymouth...stabbings, areas that are anti social, doom and gloom...avoid living in certain parts of town etc. Now they want to help the agents!

They are in a dilema...sensational news that sells copies or positive news that might win back some support from the agents?

It smells a bit like 'lets please the estate agents for a while' as the Herald have competition.”

“95 / 100 % Mortgages did not cause the banks to fail. they just made it to easy to borrow without proper checks, 100% mortgages where around 30 years ago, bring them back I say it will help loads of people to get on the housing market.”

“Isn't there a conflict of interest between the Herald running news stories ( three in recent days) about house prices rising and launching an advertising campaign for estate agents?”

    “Staggering!
After all that's happened in recent years we now get estate agents, aided by the Herald, trying to restart the myth of rising house prices!
Coupled with this, they rejoice in the availability of a 95% mortgage but no mention of the fact that interest rates are being held artificially low.
So why not encourage unaffordable debt?
    What could possibly go wrong?

HOUSE PRICES ARE STILL TOO HIGH!”
