TESTS on a substance recovered during three drugs raids in a Plymouth street yesterday, believed to be the class A drug heroin, have revealed it was chocolate-flavoured protein powder.

Officers using Misuse of Drugs warrants forced their way into three properties in Ernesettle earlier this week.

They found suspected drugs at two of the three properties they targeted in Hawkinge Gardens.

A 24-year-old man from Manchester was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug, initially believed to be heroin.

In addition, officers found a quantity of herbal cannabis.

The man was taken to Charles Cross police station for interview.

He was later cautioned for possession of a Class B drug, cannabis, and misrepresentation for financial gain.

The second caution related to chocolate protein powder found in one of the properties, which officers initially believed to be heroin, a force spokesman said.

The spokesman said the substance appeared to have been made ready for sale as heroin.

Officers from the Targeted Policing Team (TPT) carried out the raids shortly after 1pm on Tuesday, wearing protective clothing and using battering rams.

The operation was led by Pc Dan Pencollings, neighbourhood beat manager for Ernesettle and was supported by around 20 neighbourhood officers, patrol officers and two TPT units.

Anyone who wishes to contact neighbourhood officers about suspected drug use or supply should call police on 08452 777444 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

“Nutritionally, protein powders seldom have any value.
They are nothing but sugary processed synthetic garbage produced by the millions of tubs for gullible bodybuilder types who believe the best protein source has to be the one advertised in their ludicrous muscle magazines.
For the record the best sources of protein are: fertile eggs, bovine liver and certified raw milk.
The poor fellow probably paid over £30 for his tub of chocolate protein powder - natures way is the only way young man!”

“Lol Mark! You say you are no expert but then go on to claim you could be! I bet you have never even seen heroin? I suggest that next time the Police make a seizure they call on your services to taste it rather than send it to the forensic lab!!
    I'm still laughing! x”

McDougall's Flour being raided on suspicion of cocaine coz it looks similar??? What a useless, untrained and unprofessional service D & C Police are!! Need I mention the marshmallow incident earlier this month????”

“Tim, why should he get an apology?

If he was intending to supply it as heroine, even though it wasn't, he was planning on ripping people off anyway, don't see why that warrants an apology.

If he didn't realise it wasn't heroine and he was the one who got ripped off, he still thought he was supplying it to other people, so again I don't see why that warrants an apology either.”
