Hope for an encore
THE announcement that The Barbican Jazz and Blues Festival will not go ahead this year is a real blow to our city's calendar of events.
It was a well regarded festival which drew crowds to the heart of our city.
However, it relied on public funds to stage all the free events that helped make it so popular. These are hard times and tough decisions have to be made about where taxpayers' money is spent.
Things change and it is to be hoped we will see the Barbican Jazz and Blues Festival back in the future when it can take its place in this city's cultural landscape once more.

“Well, this pretty much sums up Plymouth's claim to be a city of culture.”
