Laura said: "We're quite open about how we met.

"We'd been chatting online for about two weeks before we went on our first date.

"When I left him I felt like I didn't want to go home.

"We've been inseparable ever since.

"That was nine months ago and it's been a bit of a whirlwind."

But romantic Lee had a trick up his sleeve when he realised Laura was 'the one'.

She explained: "We got engaged in December. My birthday is December 12 and so last year it was 12/12/12.

"He knew that would never happen again."

She joked: "I woke up on my birthday all grumpy, as usual, and I opened my presents.

"I was disappointed that he'd got me Ferrero Rocher because I don't like them.

"But then I opened the ring box and it had 'marry me?' written in the lid.

"It was a total surprise, we'd talked about marriage before but he'd always seemed quite laddish about it."

Now Laura and Lee are bidding to scoop The Herald's wedding competition to win their dream day.

Laura added: "We work very hard but don't earn a lot of money and are struggling to set a date.

We have both fought many a struggle and feel we deserve a day to remember."
