A HORSE has had to be destroyed after being badly cut in an attack in South East Cornwall.
Devon and Cornwall Police are investigating how a horse became seriously injured, which has resulted in the horse having to be put down.
The incident occurred between 6pm on Friday 21st September and 10am on Saturday 22nd September in a field just outside of Callington.
A nine-year-old mare suffered a severe laceration to the rear of its left leg between the hoof and fetlock. The severity of the injury meant that the horse had to be put down at the scene. Other horses in the same field were fortunately left unharmed.
