Huge turnout for new event
THOUSANDS of people enjoyed fun in the sun at a new event on Plymouth Hoe.
From speedboats to Segways, the Land and Sea Plymouth Lifestyle Show featured a huge range of sport, tourism and fitness displays.
Organised by Redrok Events, the free show on Saturday and yesterday included stalls, a climbing wall, dancers, skateboarders, a football arena and more.
David Williams, Redrok managing director, called the inaugural event a "phenomenal" success with tens of thousands of people passing through.
He said: "We were busy on both days from the minute we opened. We were really lucky with the weather and there's been huge crowds. It's had quite a carnival feel to it.
"Without a doubt, on Saturday when the show coincided with Lord Mayor's Day, we had a flow in excess of 20,000 people."
The show, part of Plymouth Summer Festival, aimed to promote all that Plymouth has to offer in sport and lifestyle.
Mr Williams said: "We had such a mix of entertainment for all the family. There's been people on surf simulators, riding around on Segways, rollerskating, on BMXs, in the soccer arena – people really got involved.
"It's been well supported and we're really pleased."
