HUNDREDS of military personnel and civilians are expected to attend Plymouth's main Remembrance Sunday event this weekend.

Servicemen and women from the Army, Territorial Army, RAF, Royal Navy and Royal Marines are to stand side-by-side with civic dignitaries and the public during the ceremony.

The event will include a poignant wreath-laying service as well as a two-minute silence at Royal Naval Memorial at 11am.

The Lord Mayor of Plymouth and city-based military personnel will lay wreaths.

The service will be led by the Bishop of Plymouth, the Rt Rev John Ford, which will last around 20 minutes.

A procession to the Civilian Memorial in Lockyer Street will also take place where the Lord Mayor will again lay a wreath on behalf of the people of Plymouth.

This will be followed by wreaths laid by Rear Admiral Chris Snow (Flag Officer Sea Training), other members of the armed forces and Alison Seabeck MP.

Pupils from Oreston Primary, Hooe Primary, Pomphlett Primary, Coombe Dean and Plymstock School will also lay a wreath.

The Bishop will say a prayer before members of the public and other organisations are invited to pay their respects and lay their personal wreaths.

Plymouth's Army personnel will also conduct their own short ceremony at their memorial on the Hoe.

Members of the public are reminded that parking around the Hoe is limited.
