“I used that road,and roundabout,last night at 11 pm (on my motorbike).The problem when it's dark is that after rain the streetlights make the road look very shiny and it's difficult to discern a wet road from an icy one. I've been riding for years and can judge temperature and conditions very well through experience,last night the Tavistock Road looked slippery but it was just surface water and I could tell the temperature was a few degrees above freezing,not long after I got home it dropped to a level where I wouldn't have ridden a bike anywhere on wet roads.

While some of Foldart's comments are stereotypical carp I can't argue with others.
Yes 3 bikers fell off,every day in the Herald there are reports of cars bumping into each other and causing chaos on Plymouth roads after doing so,add to that the several dings and minor collisions in the average day and 3 people coming slightly unstuck on an icy day isn't so bad.

“@sonofmeldrew - Apology accepted. I do have an issue with bikers in general. It's a dumb activity. Let me elaborate:

A biker is -
Vulnerable to injury if in collision with other moving or static objects
Vulnerable, as this item testifies, to the road surface conditions
Daft enough to believe that they are immortal and can, therefore, take more risks than other road users
Daft enough to believe that they are, of course, victims and everybody else on the road is dangerous but not themselves (something they share with cyclists)
Unconcerned that due to their vulnerability that in the event of a fatal accident they will generally leave a family in grief and possibly without a major breadwinner.
Daft enough to go out looking like Darth Vader's uncle and think they look really cool

Of course, none of my comments are serious. I think bikers of all persuasion are daft but that does not mean I behave badly toward them. In fact, with the knowledge above, I have developed very defensive driving methods around bikers knowing that they will possibly, one day, be donors. And who knows? I might need a fresh organ myself one day.”

Would you care to elaborate? Were you generally calling all motorcycle riders silly & childish names with no basis for that remark, or was that unnecessary comment directed at the bikers in this article?

If the latter, then I'm sure they would like to disagree with you in person. If it's all bikers in general you don't get on with for some reason, then my perception of the quality and relevance of your comments on this site have just taken a huge dive.

Either way, your comment is not correct and either you wrote if to get a reaction (why) or you indeed do have a problem with bikers in general. Both make you sad.”
