ROADS in and around Plymouth look set to ice over this evening and driving conditions could be dangerous through the weekend.

The Met Office has issued a warning of very cold weather set to hit Devon and Cornwall from 5pm today and last through the weekend.

They says showers will pass through the region clearing south-eastwards, allowing the temperature to drop.

Frost and ice will then form this evening and through the night, potentially making driving conditions dangerous.

Overnight Saturday into Sunday the temperature will drop to 0C, again allowing ice to form.

Long-term forecasts predict up to a month of subzero temperatures across the UK.

The Met Office says that, through February, there is a two in three chance that easterly winds will bring widespread cold, snow and frost to the UK and a one in three chance that milder westerly winds will prevail.
