Police inquiry into arson attack on Volvo

POLICE are investigating an attempted arson attack on a car in Whitleigh.

Firefighters from Crownhill station were called to reports of a Volvo on fire in Carlisle Road at just before 10pm on Sunday.

The crew found the Volvo with most of the front end of the vehicle on fire.

Crews put out the fire using a hose reel.

Police were then called to the scene after it was discovered that some kind of flammable liquid had been poured over the front windscreen, bonnet and grill before the car was set alight.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
