Intelligent design film screening
CHRISTIAN groups in Plymouth have organised a free screening of a documentary about evolutionary theory.
Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed claims that scientists who believe in intelligent design are being hounded out of jobs and are having their views suppressed.
Intelligent design is a form of creationism, largely put forward by Christians.
However, many in the scientific community have accused the filmmaker of manipulation and misrepresentation.
The showing is at St Michael's Church, Albert Road, Devonport, on Wednesday, March 17 at 2pm.
The organisers are Cross Rhythms Plymouth and Cornerstone Vision.
To book, contact Chris Walker on 01752 225623 or chris2@cornerstonevision.com.

“There is nothing intelligent about Intelligent Design.”

“Intelligent Design is NOTHING like Creationism. In fact, Creationism is more like Darwinism than ID: Both make presumption which it then tries to force apon the evidence: The one is trying to proof Genesis 1, the other is trying to prove a natural origin. Neither side would accept evidence supporting the other side.
With ID, design is the conclusion, not - as with Creationism - the assumption. The reasoning for this is based on empirical evidence, and inference to the best available explanation, creationism refers to scripture and goes beyond what empirical evidence can demonstrate.
To call ID Creationism is semantic warfare: It is a dishonest attempt to discredit ID without having to address its arguments. The reason for this is quite simple: There is no natural process that can create the biochemical machines and information rich DNA. Just-so stories without demonstration does not count as counter evidence. There is a word for assigning supernatural creative powers to the natural world: It's called "magic", not "science".”
